Benefit
- Reduce risk of collision
- Detects objects within 300m of the vessel
- Making manoeuvring in tight spaces, docking, and ship to ship transfers safer
- Faster turnaround time (no target handover required)
- All-weather operation
- Solid state - no moving parts
- Target-less operation
- Spot or flood azimuth beam width options
- Complementary to existing position reference sensors
How It Works
Using radar technology, RangeGuard 1.5 measures the distance to the nearest object and triggers a warning when a potential hazard enters a defined protection zone. Real-time range data is displayed on the Guidance Marine Dashboard, enabling fast and informed decisions from the bridge.
Applications
The RangeGuard 1.5 system is suitable for applications which use mobile and fixed structures such as:
- Wind Farms - RangeGuard 1.5 offers all-weather proximity detection and safer, faster approaches to turbines — even when DGPS reliability is limited.
- Ship-to-Ship transfers - A simple, targetless solution with up to 8 customisable sensors. Choose spot or flood azimuth beams to suit your operation and receive instant hazard alerts.
- Super Yachts and Passenger Ships – Achieves 360º hazard detection for commercial shipping, passenger ships and pleasure yachts. Like a vehicle parking sensor, RangeGuard 1.5 provides audio and visual alarms to alert the mariner of oncoming hazards.
- Docking – Improves docking accuracy and removes the need for the crew to berth by eye. Range measurements are displayed through an intuitive web-based interface — no guesswork, no miscommunication.
Dashboard
The RangeGuard 1.5 dashboard is designed with a clear, intuitive layout that utilises multi-touch user controls and touchscreen technology. Its user-friendly interface enables operators to use the system with confidence, ensuring safe, efficient use and optimal positioning performance.
- Ergonomically friendly - user centred design for ease of use and simple target acquisition
- Optional touchscreen control
- Minimalist design to reduce operational ambiguity
- Simple, clear and concise numeric range, bearing and heading data
- Sensor control, configuration, alarm handling and data logging functionality
- Control, clarity and complete visibility of the sensor and target(s) operational environment
- Comprehensive user-friendly operator's and installer's guides
- Operation friendly day and night mode
Recent Upgrade – What’s new?
- 𝗗𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 – Both narrow and wide azimuth beams included.
- 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 & 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 – To prevent corrosion, the materials are improved to plastic and stainless steels, instead of aluminum.
- 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Adjustable stainless-steel bracket for precise setup.
- 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 – the PoE ethernet video camera with a 110° viewing is integrated, ensuring the right setting up angle.
- 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗴 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 – 1Hz camera images + DP Type Approved sensor data for better insights.
- 𝗡𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 – If cable runs over 100m are required, copper Ethernet can be easily converted to fibre for longer cable runs. So, it can be installed anywhere on the vessel.
- 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 – Server is now run on a standard network, no centralised processing, more architectural freedom. It can work with up to 8 sensor
