- Shuttle tanker loading
- Pipe and cable laying
- Rock dumping
- Replenishment at sea
Dashboard and Service Interface
Dashboard
The CyScan Dashboard is designed with a clear, intuitive layout that utilises multi-touch user controls and touchscreen technology. Its user-friendly interface enables DPOs to operate the system with confidence, ensuring safe, efficient use and optimal positioning performance.
- Ergonomically friendly - user centred design for ease of use and simple target acquisition
- Optional touch screen control
- Minimalist design to reduce operational ambiguity
- Simple, clear and concise numeric range, bearing and heading data
- Sensor control, configuration, alarm handling and data logging functionality
- Control, clarity and complete visibility of the sensor and target(s) operational environment
- DPO is in full control of the system and data stream being fed to the DP system
- Comprehensive user-friendly operator's and installer's guides
- Operation friendly day and night mode
Service Interface
A dedicated commissioning tool offers a much faster set-up time, including handling all set-up parameters from the PC rather than out at the sensor. It also enables live access to position data during operation. This greatly improves commissioning and maintenance turnaround time.
AS Prism

What is Prism?
A Prism is a glass retro-reflector that reflects a much higher percentage of the incident light giving the DP sensor (of any manufacturer) a much greater range.
Benefits of Glass Prisms in DP:
- Reflects nearly all incoming light, delivering maximum signal strength
- Allows for longer operation in deteriorating visibility
- Typically mounted in clusters to provide a greater angle of visibility and/or to increase the signal response in locations prone to low visibility
- Enables long range operations beyond the 500m DP zone
What is the AS Prism?
The AS Prism is a precision-engineered glass retro-reflector designed specifically for offshore marine environments. With a unique, black-tinted lens filter, it creates a distinct optical signature that is exclusively recognized by the CyScan® AS sensor — ensuring accurate target identification, even in challenging conditions.
Benefits:
- Guaranteed 'signature lock' between the CyScan AS sensor and the target
- Improves visibility with automatic target identification and acquisition
- Reduces turnaround time - increases operational efficiency
- Eliminates the possibility of false reflection walk-off incidents
- Simple and reliable operator experience
Robust Design Features
- High visibility, easy to identify
- Robust housing design suitable for handovers
- Easy 'drop on' rail mounting
- Suitable for long-term wall or handrail mounting
Best Practice
For maximum safety and visibility, Guidance Marine always recommends glass prisms.
Patents
Patents granted or pending: GB 2534408
Patent pending: GB 2532801
Applicable to Rugged Prism
How It Works?

- CyScan Targets - Minimum of one target mounted on the fixed platform or mobile object
- CyScan Sensor - Installed on a vessel equipped with a DP system
- CyScan Dashboard - Software is used by the DP operator to control the CyScan Sensor. It runs on a marine processor installed on the vessel’s bridge
FAQs
You will require a CyScan AS sensor and an AS prism.
Yes, CyScan AS will still detect existing reflectors of all types and report them as ‘non-AS’ targets in the dashboard user interface.
Guidance Marine have been supplying the AS prism well ahead of launch of the sensor to ensure maximum coverage.
Multi-target tracking supports adding additional reflectors ‘on the fly’ without interrupting DP feed. This is particularly useful if one target becomes obscured due to personnel or crane activity.
Guidance Marine offer plug and play solutions for upgrading from CyScan Mk 2/3/4 to AS. Upgrade options for other laser sensors are also available where the existing vessel wiring can be utilised. Installation can usually be carried out by vessel electrician / ETO. If preferred, local Engineers can provide on-site service through our regional offices and partner network. Remote technical support is on hand via our service team.
